omm392.what.is.sobriety.worth

I received these emails:

N: “Honestly Belle:  I want to [sign up for sober coaching].  My head tells me it’s too expensive – I am going through a divorce and in the red every month.  I also buy alcohol, not every day but enough to make that number make no sense.  I wish I understood it better.”

K: “It’s the money. I don’t have any. I’m going through a divorce and I lost my job. I live alone and I don’t have any family in my country, so I don’t have any support. That’s all it is x”

and this new OMM is my reply …

omm391.want.to.learn

“i want to learn to be sober, but i want to drink at the same time.” there are other coaches who talk about this – about drinking and learning and drinking and learning and eventually give up the alcohol – it doesn’t happen that way. ever. alcohol hijacks our ability to learn new things. i don’t see growth happening until the behaviour is removed.

this omm is extracted from a longer podcast called “Learning to Deal with Emotions” (it’s episode 458 for podcast subscribers). i have a tip for you. if you add yourself to the podcast subscriber list today, this full-length audio about emotions (22 minutes long) will be the first audio you receive. This audio covers things I’ve learned in coaching that I haven’t talked about like this before. If you wait even 24 hrs to sign up to be a podcast subscriber, though, this will not be first audio and you’ll miss this one. So hop over here right now > www.audiosober.com.

omm390.archiveofanger

omm390.archiveofanger > if you have an archive of anger, then your anger will squirt out in the most inappropriate ways. and then you’re mad at people who have done nothing, because it’s triggered some original archived anger

omm389.superhighway

omm389.superhighway > if you’re newly sober, then it’s like you’re a little chick, walking around in tall grass. you are walking in a new place, unsure where to go. And all the while you are RIGHT beside a superhighway of booze that threatens to squish you. How do you move away from what you know, into the tall (new) grass?
this one-minute audio message is extracted from a longer podcast episode called “423: Self-Care vs. Self-Indulgence”.

omm388.resistance

omm388.resistance > saturday morning. i was lounging in bed this  morning and thought, hey, i should do something productive. like get up? nah. i’ll record an audio from bed instead!  and this audio is  about feeling resistance to doing hard things, the origin of the ‘wolfie’ voice, and why you have to learn self-care (or else it’ll blow your house down). this is a time-specific audio, meant to be listened to today (saturday) if you can. take a few moments right now. there’s something in here for you. something you need to hear that will help you with your day.

omm387.moderation.doesnt.work

omm387.moderation.doesnt.work > this audio is about mental health, compulsive behaviours, and how moderation doesn’t work. i share how reading an article in New York magazine about an author had me thinking the whole time: this is a story about addiction, compulsion, obsession. it’s so surprising how many times we go down the rabbit hole of THIS SHOULD WORK even when it’s not working. and then we try again. and again. and again.

omm386.decision.making

omm386.decision.making > This audio is about how you make decisions. i talk about that feeling in the pit of your stomach when you’re trying to decide what to do. and how this is relates to quitting drinking and is maybe keeping you stuck.

omm385.how.proud.of.you

omm385.how.proud.of.you > how proud of you must you be, for being sober, for looking at sober stuff right now? with all the things going on in the world? and you’re here, right now, working on this. isn’t that a cool thing? == this OMM is extracted from a longer podcast episode about Hope and Hopelessness (it’s episode 385 for podcast subscribers). if you add yourself to the podcast subscriber list today, this will be your next audio. but only for a couple of days. so don’t wait 🙂 hop over there right now > www.audiosober.com

omm384.dividing.line

omm384.dividing.line > you are in one of two camps: (1) “how can i make sure that never happens to me” or (2) “that’ll never happen to me.” there’s the line, right there. and if you think you’re in the ‘that’ll never happen to me’ camp, then you’re at risk. because the addictive voice speaks very loudly, and very convincingly. and it speaks only with lies.
